The Mission

Shawn Smith is a Christian who is driven by an exciting mission: To share the Good News of God's grace in Christ through music, humor, personal stories of faith and, perhaps most importantly, in his everyday walk with the Lord.

Who Is Shawn Smith?

Shawn Smith is a full-time, performing songwriter and keynote speaker. Shawn has produced and recorded seven studio albums of original music and many live recordings over the past 12 years of ministry. An active road-man, Shawn has toured through nearly every state in the US, and performs over 100 concerts and key-note talks per year at churches, youth gatherings, conferences, schools, camps and colleges. Shawn currently lives in West Palm Beach, FL.

The Dude

Shawn Smith is a Theatre Education graduate of the University of Michigan, holding minors in Music and Computer Science. Throughout college, Shawn toured and recorded with his band Project G.O.D., and led them on 4 national summer tours, performing countless concerts and regional youth gatherings. Together, Shawn and Project G.O.D. wrote and recorded 5 albums of original music.

After graduating from college with a degree in teaching, Shawn felt the call to hit the road as a solo artist and toured nearly non-stop for five years, averaging 200-300 days/year on the road. During this time Shawn performed hundreds of concerts at churches, youth gatherings, camps and conferences as a solo artist, and he recorded 2 albums of original music, and 2 live albums of camp-songs and produced an accompanying songbook. He also helped train staff and lead music at Camp Lutherlyn in PA, helped train Captive Free national touring bands with Youth Encounter in MN, and helped create and lead a mid-week program known as “The Feast” at his home church in MI. Upon moving to South FL in late 2002, Shawn led music and helped a local church launch a mid-week program, and since then has become active in the local Christian music scene by performing and recording with friends and colleagues from the greater West Palm Beach area.

Today, Shawn can be found boarding a plane on most weekends bound for a youth gathering, conference, or series of concerts somewhere in the US to share his music and stories of faith. In the summer months, you’ll find Shawn either on the road touring camps, churches, festivals and gatherings, or overseas on a mission trip with a group of teenagers and adults building or repairing homes, schools, or hospitals.

During the week, you’ll probably find Shawn laying down song ideas in his project studio, answering mail, meeting with his assistant Judy about upcoming events, editing photos or video from his latest gig, planning his next overseas mission trip, working on his next book, or emailing friends and family from his Powerbook. If it’s a Monday (usually his Sabbath), you’ll probably find Shawn doing some serious sleeping, or spending restful time with family and friends--either on the phone, through email, or at a dinner table somewhere with home-cooked food.

When not working, you may find Shawn on the volleyball court, or tennis court, or snorkeling at a nearby reef. Or you may find Shawn reading his favorite non-fiction book, attending a local Bible study, playing music with friends, watching a behind-the-scenes dvd commentary, listening to NPR, or watching C-SPAN or PBS at a friend’s house (because he doesn’t own a tv). Or, you just may catch Shawn tooling around town on his bike or roller blades searching for a new favorite bagel shop or sushi bar.
